That's right. The best type of sunscreen is one you'll wear every day, but as far as dermatologist advice goes, most experts we've spoken to agree that mineral sunscreens are better for sensitive skin — as well as children, pregnant people, etc. There are only two active ingredients you'll find in mineral sunscreens: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which reflect UV rays. They're also photostable and don't need to be reapplied as frequently as chemical sunscreens when exposed to light.
Since physical sunscreens sit on the surface of the skin, they may need a little extra time during application to blend into the skin. But luckily, beauty brands continue to innovate their mineral formulas, and now there are tons of options that blend in seamlessly into skin and don't leave a ghostly white cast. They absorb UV rays and convert them to non-damaging heat, but just note that you should give yourself a solid 15 minutes post-application before exposing your skin to the sun (so that the chemical reaction can run its course).
